Jim Lane is the Chairman of the Cava Advisory Board. He has a long
and distinguished career in the private equity industry. Jim spent 20 years at
Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he was a general partner and founding member and
Co-Head of the highly successful Principal Investment Area (PIA), which invests
the firm's and clients' money in alternative investment funds sponsored by
Goldman Sachs. He managed and led the New York office, and started and built
the European business of PIA in London. PIA is now one of the largest private
equity businesses in the world with over $200 billion under management.
Following Goldman, Jim was Chairman and CEO of SG Capital Partners, the private equity business of Societe Generale and SG Cowen. Jim was also the Chairman of the Investment Committee. SG Capital Partners invested in middle market buyouts and technology companies, primarily in the software sector, in a portfolio which grew to nearly $600 million and generated first quartile returns.
More recently, Jim has been active in Devonwood Capital Partners, an investment firm which has provided advice, counsel, strategy and direction to a variety of clients, including Payoff.com, Ripplewood Holdings, Infinium Capital Management and NanoHoldings, LLC. In addition to his investment work, Jim is Founder and Chairman of the New Canaan Society, a non-profit organization which started in his home over 20 years ago.
